As he told me
jokingly; "In
my early 20's, I was minding my own business while taking a leisurely
walk, and someone pulled me off the street into their upholstery shop,
and ever since then I've been working with furniture." After that
experience, he utilized a small space beside Calico Corners in Mt.
Kisco, New York. Warren's skills developed even more in the few years
he was working beside Calico Corners, but the small shop left little
room for expansion. Needing more space to hold furniture to slipcover,
make draperies, cornice boards, upholster, tablecloths, and head boards
he moved away from Calico Corners and opened a new shop, called
SIT & SEW in Mt. Kisco. Sit & Sew quickly grew into a strong
business, with the READER'S DIGEST as one of his major accounts. Warren
worked hard in his many years until he sold his business in 1990. Retired,
he
moved with his family to Orlando, Florida. Warren put his card at
Freemans Fabric's, Calico Corners, Boca Bargoons in Orlando, Fl. and
started making slipcovers again. Now, having utilized his years of experience,
he has MASTERED the skill of slipcovering. Warren has many repeat customers,
and they are kind enough to share their secret with others. Although
Warren lives in Orlando, Fl. he's a traveler. During the cold winter
months, Warren enjoys the art of Ballet SKIING with trips to VERMONT.
During the warmer months, Warren enjoys GOLFing. Warren Dufner and Joe
Marcella came up with a design called "The Swing Guide" in
the 1960's, however after their patent expired, someone else took their design.
